About the Role

Spectrum Vision Partners (SVP) and OCLI Vision are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technical Supervisor to lead their clinical team, improve clinic workflow, and ensure exceptional patient care. This hands-on leadership role involves supervising technicians, supporting physicians, and continuing to provide direct patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the clinical technical team
  • Create and manage staff schedules
  • Coordinate PTO requests and staffing coverage
  • Train, coach, and mentor ophthalmic technicians
  • Meet regularly with providers and office leadership to improve workflow and patient care
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, coaching, and other HR-related responsibilities
  • Perform all duties of a Level II Ophthalmic Technician
  • Assist physicians during patient exams and in-office procedures
  • Support patient triage and clinic flow
  • Perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including Manual Refraction, Visual Fields (VF), OCT, Corneal Topography, and Fundus Photography
  • Serve as a technician or scribe as needed
  • Maintain inventory of clinical instruments and medical supplies
  • Order supplies and monitor equipment maintenance
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and replacements
  • Balance clinical responsibilities with administrative tasks
  • Respond promptly to emails and operational requests
  • Help ensure compliance with office policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician with the ability to perform all Level II technician responsibilities
  • Strong manual refraction skills
  • Experience performing OCT, Visual Fields, Corneal Topography, Fundus Photography, and other ophthalmic testing
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience using NextGen or another electronic medical records (EMR) system
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Professionalism and commitment to patient confidentiality
