About the Role
This role involves contributing to the design, development, testing, and validation of innovative timber-based prefabricated modular elements for building renovation as part of a major Horizon Europe research project. The focus is on developing a wooden structural framework for these elements.
Responsibilities
- Undertake research and development of innovative timber systems for prefabricated modular renovation elements.
- Support the design, optimisation, testing, and validation of timber structural frameworks and connection systems.
- Conduct structural modelling, performance assessment, fire safety and sustainability evaluation, and prototype development.
- Ensure compliance with European standards.
- Collaborate with academic and industrial partners on Horizon Europe project delivery, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement.
- Undertake regular international travel for project meetings, research activities, site visits, demonstrations, and collaborative engagements.
Requirements
- Hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Possess expertise in structural analysis, numerical modelling, and design to relevant standards.
- Have experience in experimental research, data analysis, technical reporting, and scientific communication.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
