About the Role

VAST Data is seeking a Data Analyst, Finance to join our growing analytics team. This role will build analytics and dashboard visualizations to deliver actionable insights on core SaaS and financial metrics, partnering closely with Finance, Accounting, Tax, and Revenue Operations stakeholders. The position plays a key role in transforming data into actionable insights that improve business outcomes by building and delivering accurate, accessible, and repeatable business reporting.

Responsibilities

Write SQL queries to extract and transform financial and SaaS metrics data, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
Collect, clean, and interpret data from various sources to provide actionable insights.
Develop ad-hoc reports and analytics packages for regular business reviews.
Build and maintain reports and Tableau visualizations to represent financial metrics, trends, and performance.
Deliver analytics that answer key business questions and drive value for stakeholders.
Support efforts to improve the accuracy of financial reporting data and identify data quality gaps.
Use AI tools like Cursor and Claude to speed up SQL development, documentation, and testing.
Track and manage analytics work in Jira and collaborate to improve data across systems.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Analytics, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience as a data or financial analyst.
Proficient in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
Experience with Tableau for dashboard creation and data visualization.
Some experience using AI-assisted coding and analysis tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Familiarity with SaaS financial metrics (ARR, RPO, Customer Retention) preferred.
Comfortable working in Jira to manage and track analytics tasks.
Minimal travel required (approximately 10% or less annually).

Ability to break down complex problems, identify patterns, and derive meaningful insights.
