About the Role

Ambience is hiring a Technical Lead Manager of Product Engineering to lead and scale core engineering teams in building a category-defining AI platform for healthcare. This role involves partnering with product, design, and clinical teams to translate ambitious ideas into scalable, maintainable production systems. The position is responsible for growing the team, building high-functioning pods, and delivering features that impact clinician efficiency and patient outcomes, while shaping organizational design, culture, and process.

Responsibilities

Help grow and shape a high-performing engineering group by hiring, onboarding, and developing strong ICs.
Partner closely with recruiting and leverage personal network to attract and close exceptional talent.
Architect the engineering team for high ownership and product velocity.
Set clear team charters, rituals, and scopes of responsibility.
Ship major customer-facing initiatives that expand Ambience’s enterprise footprint.
Raise the bar on quality and performance.
Mentor Engineering Managers or Technical Leads.
Create pathways for career growth.
Promote a culture of feedback, execution, and high agency.
Lead on architecture, code quality, release reliability, and data integrity.
Establish best practices and ensure consistency across pods.
Collaborate deeply with PM, Design, and Clinical SMEs to ensure strong planning, discovery, and delivery practices across the product lifecycle.
Translate high-level business goals into actionable plans.
Unblock teams and deliver results in fast-moving and uncertain environments.

Requirements

Experienced hiring manager with a track record of hiring 7+ engineers.
Experience building teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
8+ years of software engineering experience.
3+ years of experience managing engineers.
Experience building and scaling distributed systems.
Shipped backend and full-stack features in SaaS environments.
Ability to go deep on technical decisions when needed.
Experience collaborating with PM and Design.
Ability to think in terms of user outcomes.
Ensure the team is building the right thing.
Pride in delivering on ambitious goals.
Ability to align a team, debug process issues, and accelerate throughput.
