About the Role
This role involves preparing, reviewing, and compiling financial statements and tax returns for a diverse range of clients. You will apply accounting, review, and tax concepts to client situations, adapt methodologies, and foster an efficient, innovative, and team-focused environment. The position utilizes technology to enhance service delivery and continuous learning.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and compilation engagements in Caseware
- Prepare adjusting entries and financial statements
- Reconciliation of accounts
- Prepare corporate income tax returns, other tax slips and HST and GST filings
- Working on Canada Revenue Agency queries and online activity
- Assist managers with material for client deliverables and meetings
- Understand accounting, review and tax concepts and apply them to client situations
- Adapt review methodologies to a range of client types
- Foster an efficient, innovative and team-focused environment
- Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery
- Respond to other duties as required
Requirements
- A university degree in accounting, or a college diploma in accounting
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public accounting and in performing review, compilation and tax engagements for various types of clients
- Experience working with CaseWare/Caseview and iFirm
- Prior experience working with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Simply Accounting and others)
- Strong accounting and tax skills, general ledger, cash receipts, cash disbursements, investment company accounting with knowledge of HST and GST administration
- Preparation of T4’s, T5’s and T5013 partnership returns experience
- Strong corporate tax knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel
- Flexibility to work additional hours as required
- The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment
- Personal initiative with strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with clients, team members and external parties
