About the Role
The American Red Cross is seeking an Emergency Communications Center (ECC) Representative (Dispatcher) to coordinate and serve as a resource for daily operations of a program or service. This role acts as a liaison between the program/service and its internal/external partners, and provides support, development, and guidance to volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate telephone dispatch, including calls from the public, fellow employees, volunteers, and fire/police/911 dispatchers.
- Coordinate emergency responses.
- Report and maintain detailed records of services and calls.
- Implement and coordinate day-to-day functions supporting program or service operations.
- Develop workable program or service implementation plans.
- Support leadership in coordinating casework activities.
- Respond to general inquiries.
- Schedule and coordinate requests for community-based presentations.
- Participate in small-scale projects involving research, data collection, and recommendation development.
- Support leadership in coordinating educational and outreach programs.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
- Must be able to work the overnight shift: Sunday to Thursday, 10 pm to 6 am.
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work in a small cubicle and sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

- Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

- Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
