About the Role
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) is seeking a dynamic Infrastructure Industrial Designer to join our growing Design Engineering Group. This role will contribute to our multi-faceted and leading-edge division, focusing on the design-build delivery of infrastructure-related buildings projects. The successful candidate will enhance the technical integrity of our infrastructure facilities and transit design group in the United States and support design efforts across North America, applying innovative technical solutions to solve complex problems.
Responsibilities
- Advance the technical and business applications of the transportation infrastructure facilities group for rail, bus, and other transportation-related facilities.
- Coordinate industrial building and facility activities within Kiewit's offices and with design consultants in the USA and Canada.
- Lead and perform engineering design tasks, coordinating with design teams on plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation infrastructure facilities.
- Develop task scopes, schedules, and budgets for Industrial designs and site layouts.
- Identify and understand technical project requirements and apply engineering principles to develop solutions.
- Provide technical reviews during conceptual and final design stages.
- Perform interdisciplinary reviews for coordination with other design disciplines and compliance with contract documents.
- Lead technical meetings and discussions, strategizing solutions to complex technical problems.
- Identify technical differentiators and develop schemes for key project pursuits.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or greater in Industrial Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in relevant Industrial engineering design.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in at least one state.
- Strong theoretical knowledge of bus, train, heavy truck, and commercial vehicle maintenance and operational facilities.
- Experience with Design-Build or other alternative delivery methods is preferred.
- Established relationships with public and private transportation agencies.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong people skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Ability to travel as business requires.
- Regular, reliable attendance.

- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally.
- Perform work safely and effectively.
- Understand and follow instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and policies.
- Work during normal operating hours and overtime/weekends as required.
