About the Role
The NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is seeking a Principal Lawyer to join the Subpoena Objections Team within the Office of the General Counsel. This role involves providing and coordinating high-quality legal representation, advice, and support for orders and requests for information directed to the Commissioner of Police, particularly subpoenas. The position requires managing your own legal practice, including advice, litigation, and advocacy, as well as leading a small team. This is a highly autonomous role with the opportunity to significantly impact subpoena management within the NSWPF.
Responsibilities
- Provision and coordination of high quality, ethical and professional legal representation, advice and support relating to various orders or requests for information directed to the Commissioner of Police, and in particular, subpoenas to produce.
- Manage your own legal practice (which will include advice, litigation, and advocacy).
- Manage a small team.
Requirements
- Must be an Australian Citizen, a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen.
- Must undergo a rigorous National Police (criminal history) Check.
- Must obtain and maintain a Security Clearance as determined by the NSW Police Force prior to commencement.
- Attach a cover letter (2 pages maximum).
- Attach an up-to-date resume that clearly details your skills & experience as relevant to this role.
