About the Role
A family in Brooklyn, NY seeks an experienced, energetic, and reliable nanny for their two children (ages 4 and 20 months). The family speaks Finnish and English and desires a long-term nanny who is nurturing, patient, and genuinely enjoys engaging with children. The ideal candidate is positive, proactive, organized, physically active, and calm under pressure, with a passion for sports, outdoor play, and creative activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, hands-on care for two young children
- Plan engaging, screen-free activities, including sports, outdoor play, crafts, reading, and play-dates
- Encourage positive peer interaction and friendships
- Support school drop-offs/pickups and navigate NYC via public transportation
- Meal plan and prep children's meals and snacks; assist with feeding
- Pack lunches for school
- Support naps, bedtime, hygiene, and toilet training
- Maintain a safe and stimulating environment
- Encourage social, emotional, and developmental growth
- Keep children’s spaces and belongings organized
- Represent the family professionally in school and social settings
- Travel domestically with the family as needed
Requirements
- Prior experience in a similar role
- Minimum of 2 years living in NYC and strong knowledge of navigating the city and all transportation methods
- CPR/First Aid certified
- Must be able to swim
- Physically capable and comfortable in a five-level home with no elevator
- Excellent judgment, reliability, communication, and discretion
- Comfortable working alongside a stay-at-home parent and a parent who works from home while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Must be able to adhere to a strict no-shoes-in-the-home policy
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Flexibility with schedule and travel as needed
- Flu vaccination required
- Must be familiar with NYC waste, recycling, and composting rules
- Legal to work in the U.S.
