About the Role

RSM is seeking an experienced M&A tax professional to join its growing national Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Tax group. This role involves advising multinational corporations, private companies, partnerships, and private equity firms on the tax aspects of M&A transactions, focusing on technical expertise, people management, and client service.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver due diligence and tax structuring services as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Communicate findings and opportunities to clients.
  • Assist senior M&A Tax members with technical tax issues for various entities and international/cross-border mandates.
  • Advise clients on reorganizations, pre-sale planning, tax structuring for financings, debt restructurings, recapitalizations, safe income computations, modeling, and general tax transaction support.
  • Perform tax due diligence, assessing risks and opportunities related to target companies' tax profiles, planning, examination, acquisition/disposition, and filing history.
  • Review and comment on purchase agreements and disclosure schedules.
  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously and collaborate with colleagues across Canada and the global RSM network.
  • Develop, motivate, and train staff and senior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA in-depth tax program and/or advanced CPA in-depth courses in-progress or completed.
  • 5+ years of experience in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department, preferably within M&A tax or Canadian income tax.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of corporate tax matters across various industries, accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex engagements and deliver high-quality, timely work.
  • Strong writing, analytical, research, Excel, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business development skills.
