About the Role
RSM is seeking an experienced M&A tax professional to join its national Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Tax group. This role involves advising multinational corporations, private equity firms, and other entities on the tax aspects of M&A transactions, focusing on technical expertise, people management, and client service.
Responsibilities
- Deliver due diligence and tax structuring services as part of a multi-disciplinary team, communicating findings and opportunities to clients.
- Lead Canadian tax due diligence engagements, including reviewing target's historic tax profile, planning, tax examination, acquisition/disposition, and filing history to assess potential risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and review tax due diligence reports.
- Assist with various tax advisory engagements including buy-side and sell-side structuring, domestic reorganizations, sale planning, cross-border planning, evaluating structures for tax efficiency, and modelling transaction scenarios.
- Support other members of the M&A Tax practice with technical tax issues, demonstrating understanding of complex tax concepts and applying tax knowledge to client situations.
- Collaborate with other service lines (domestic and international) and external advisors on M&A engagements.
- Maintain high-level client relationships, provide support, and contribute to business initiatives.
- Develop, motivate, and train staff and senior level team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA or MTax required; CPA in-depth tax program and/or advanced CPA in-depth courses.
- 7-10 years of experience in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department, preferably within M&A tax.
- Knowledge of a broad range of corporate tax matters in various industries, accounting, and financial reporting.
- Ability to manage multiple complex engagements and deliver timely, high-quality work.
- Strong writing, analytical, research, Excel, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business development skills.
