About the Role

Cathay Express Transportation is seeking safety-focused and customer service-oriented Bus Operators to transport individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout New York City. The Bus Operator ensures the safe operation of the vehicle, provides reliable service, and creates a positive transportation experience for passengers.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws, DOT regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
• Transport passengers safely and on schedule using assigned routes and manifests.
• Assist with the safe loading and unloading of passengers.
• Operate wheelchair lifts and properly secure wheelchairs and other mobility devices when assigned.
• Ensure all passengers are safely seated and secured before moving the vehicle.
• Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Report accidents, incidents, mechanical defects, damage, or safety concerns immediately.
• Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean, safe, and service-ready condition.
• Fuel vehicles as required and ensure all required safety equipment is available and operational.
• Maintain communication with Dispatch regarding delays, route changes, emergencies, and service issues.
• Complete required trip sheets, mileage logs, inspection reports, and other transportation documentation accurately and on time.
• Provide professional and courteous service to passengers, families, program staff, and coworkers.
• Report to work on time and maintain dependable attendance.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and client requirements.
• Attend required meetings, training sessions, and safety refreshers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid New York State driver's license required.
• Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and DOT physical.
• Ability to work split shifts, Monday through Friday.

• $23–$25 per hour
• $3,000 Sign-on Bonus
