About the Role
The Head Coach will contribute to a healthier, happier world by ensuring a seamless fitness experience for clients and coaches. This role focuses on member retention, client acquisition, and supporting the Fitness Coach Team. The Head Coach will uphold 24 Hour Fitness's core values, develop comprehensive fitness programs, and act as a player-coach for training, onboarding, and hiring new coaches. Approximately 60% of the role involves personal training sessions, with 40% dedicated to onboarding, training, and supporting coaches within a club.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver comprehensive fitness programs based on clients' goals, including exercise selection, varied fitness offerings, general nutrition guidelines, and promoting a fitness lifestyle.
- Mentor coach performance through behavior observation, training, and development.
- Support the onboarding and training of new coaches.
- Assist the General Manager in interviewing and hiring coaches.
- Provide input to the GM on fitness goal setting, scheduling, and coach performance.
- Build and generate a strong fitness business through new client acquisition and retention.
- Set expectations and hold clients accountable to their fitness programs through goal setting, follow-up discussions, and progress tracking.
- Demonstrate safe and proper exercise techniques to clients.
- Arrive on time, prepared, and enthusiastic for every training appointment and group session.
- Meet minimum productivity expectations for servicing clients and group sessions.
- Create, maintain, and update progress for each personal training client according to company guidelines.
- Assist in member service activities such as fitness seminars and training days.
- Deliver a positive fitness experience to members and guests through custom coaching sessions.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized club by racking weights, participating in team cleans, and assisting with general upkeep.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience as a Personal Trainer or Fitness Coach.
- Holistic fitness program design and consultation experience required.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to work 30+ hours weekly and be open to working weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to adjust and operate fitness equipment.
- Ability to perform a variety of exercise routines.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, responding professionally to requests and inquiries from guests, members, and staff.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certifications received through in-person training required.
- Degree in a related field or current certification through at least one nationally accredited industry association.
- Specialized fitness credentials preferred.
- Prior experience as a lead or manager on duty within a fitness organization preferred.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Physical effort required for daily duties includes lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, jumping, kicking, and prolonged standing and walking.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level in the environment is occasionally loud.
- Limited (less than 5%) travel by car to trainings or meetings at other club locations.
