About the Role
The Athletics Gym Coordinator facilitates the day-to-day operations of all Athletics Department programming, focusing on youth sports classes and leagues. This role involves close collaboration with program management on planning, analysis, customer service, and daily operations coordination. It serves as a key point of contact for parents and patrons regarding program information.
Responsibilities
- Assist management with providing direction to JCCSF coaches.
- Be present during practice hours and transitions.
- Maintain a consistent presence at all program events to ensure effective oversight.
- Maintain consistent and effective communication with coaches, enforcing expectations and providing clear information.
- Help develop and be familiar with weekly lesson plans and check in with coaches to ensure practice objectives are met.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Athletics department in the absence of management.
- Ensure storage remains neat and organized.
- Ensure a positive and safe environment for all program participants, coaches, and families.
- Assist in managing large groups of children and facilitate the development of sport and life skills.
- Set up and take down class sections and equipment, directing coaches/instructors on assistance.
- Coach at least one team per season in all sports.
- Coach teams as needed when regular coaches are absent.
- Provide excellent customer service to program participants and families.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all program areas and communicate program information to stakeholders.
- Be knowledgeable and proficient in explaining the philosophy, curriculum, and operations of the Athletics department’s "Redefine The Score” model.
- Provide input to management regarding coaches and instructors for performance evaluations.
- Support coverage plans when athletics coaches are absent or missing.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- Experience working with children ages 3-13 years.
- Working knowledge of child development is a plus.
- Previous experience working in an athletics background, specifically with basketball and/or volleyball programs.
- Energetic and outgoing personality.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively engage and coordinate with various stakeholders (staff and clients).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that varies based on the sports season, including morning, evening, and weekend hours.
- Commitment to being available on weekends with hours that will vary based on each week’s game schedule.
- Current CPR & First Aid certification preferred, or ability to obtain upon hire.
