About the Role

The AP is seeking a Key Account Manager to join the team. This role is central to retaining and deepening AP’s relationships with its most important U.S. media customers. The Key Account Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for a defined portfolio of accounts, driving customer satisfaction, engagement, and account growth. Success is measured by retention, expansion within existing accounts, and the quality of ongoing customer relationships. The ideal candidate understands the media landscape deeply, brings a consultative approach to account management, and thrives on in-person engagement. They will act as a bridge between customers and AP’s editorial, product, platform, legal, and finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own a defined portfolio of accounts spanning television networks and stations, newspapers, digital publishers, and educational institutions.
  • Proactively engage customers to retain accounts, drive satisfaction, and identify expansion opportunities within the existing portfolio.
  • Maintain deep fluency in AP’s services and offerings; educate and advise customers on the full range of ways AP can support their needs.
  • Maintain regular, substantive in-person engagement with customers; serve as their trusted day-to-day contact for questions on services, delivery, and billing.
  • Track account activity, opportunities, and customer health in Salesforce; provide regular reporting to the team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with editorial, product, platform, legal, and finance teams to resolve issues and deliver value to customers.
  • Support the broader team through account and database coordination, client presentation preparation, and operational follow-through.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in B2B content licensing, news services, or media account management; familiarity with intellectual property products a plus.
  • Strong account planning skills with both analytical and consultative approaches; proven ability to manage a complex portfolio.
  • Self-starter with high ethical standards, disciplined follow-through, and strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written); executive presence with the ability to engage senior client stakeholders.
  • Active listener with strong problem-solving instincts and the ability to develop creative, needs-based solutions.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or comparable CRM.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. required.
  • Ability to work in the NYC office a minimum of three (3) days per week.
  • Ability to travel for regular in-person client engagement.
