About the Role

The Maintenance Assistant reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for executing routine repairs and minor maintenance operations, with a focus on providing superior customer service to residents.

Responsibilities

• Executes routine repairs and minor maintenance operations for electrical, mechanical, plumbing equipment, and buildings.
• Performs painting and minor carpentry, and maintains exterior grounds, excluding contracted services.
• Conducts regular inspections of the premises for maintenance and safety, submitting required reports.
• Adheres to facility policies, procedures, safety rules, and safe working practices.
• Fulfills housekeeping and maintenance duties as required while assigned handyman responsibilities.
• Works in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
• Upholds and promotes the organization's values and philosophy regarding ethics, morality, and integrity.
• Completes other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to self-regulate and work independently.
• Capability to perform necessary physical duties, including moving heavy objects.
• Familiarity with and ability to perform minor repairs to facilities and equipment.
• Knowledge and training in plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical, plastering, and painting.
• Ability to maintain and manage a budget, with attention to detail in tracking work and costs.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety.
• Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
