About the Role

This position is responsible for ensuring the plant meets mandatory sanitation requirements for machinery, equipment, and facilities, adhering to Whitsons policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

• Ensures plant is audit ready at all times by cleaning, scrubbing, and sanitizing the outside of all equipment, tanks, stairs, walls, floors, baseboards, handrails, sinks, drains, and trash cans throughout the plant.
• Assists production staff with cleaning up major projects as needed.
• Responsible for the daily exterior cleaning of machinery.
• Ensures different rooms are cleaned throughout the plant by mopping, sweeping, wiping, etc.
• Takes direction from Sanitation Supervisor to resolve sanitation-related issues.
• Works with Production and other co-workers to meet sanitation schedules while maximizing productivity.
• Analyzes and resolves sanitation work problems, or assists workers in solving sanitation work problems.
• Responsible for keeping outside grounds cleaned all year round.
• Clean common and office areas on occasion.

Requirements

• Must be able to sit, walk, talk, and hear.
• Must be able to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
• Must be able to stand on feet majority of the workday in addition to walking back and forth.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Lifting while turning side to side is sometimes necessary.
• Requires specific vision abilities including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Position sometimes requires extended hours including evenings and/or weekends.
• Position sometimes requires travel to multiple work sites.
• Position sometimes requires occasional out-of-state travel.
• Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, specifically the packing and warehousing areas.
• Standing most of the work day is required.
• Work requires movement in and out of store rooms, near heavy machinery and freezers.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
