About the Role
The Systems Integrator 1 (Data Warehouse System Admin) will provide expertise and advice related to the Data Warehouse (DW) environment sustainment, configuration, and support. This role involves maintaining implemented data extracts-transform-load (ETL) solutions and Databases for Toronto Public Health information technology systems. The position requires initiative in leading planning, documenting, and supporting various software systems, with a focus on DW applications, software deployment, automation scripting, version updates, and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Plan, support, and implement Oracle Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) related applications, including Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), Map viewer, Oracle WebLogic server, and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI).
- Manage and sustain Oracle repository (RPD) to create, customize, and maintain End User Layers, business subject areas, and analytical facilities, while controlling user access.
- Analyze and develop standard and ad-hoc usage logs reports using Oracle tools (OBIEE, OAS, ODI) and upload them to SPLUNK or other repositories.
- Evaluate performance, systems logs, and install/configure multi-tiered Oracle Application Server (OAS), Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE), and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) environments on Linux.
- Identify systems-related risks and prepare mitigation action plans.
- Liaise and coordinate with internal and external groups/vendors for task accomplishment.
- Prepare and present status reports of DW environments, explaining variances, issues, projects, or work packages.
- Prepare findings and “Lessons Learned” from post-implementation reviews, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Assess, analyze, evaluate, and recommend process and policy alternatives for BI & DW projects.
- Understand DW Logical Data Models and Design documents for proposed solutions, providing input.
- Update and maintain Data Warehouse databases/data models using a data modeling tool.
- Ensure data integrity and validation rules in ETLs, maintenance, and sustainment.
- Recommend improvements to current methodology, processes, standards, and policies.
- Assist staff in development/implementation for OBIEE/OAS, ODI, and repository (RPD) using the multi-user development (MUD) environment.
- Liaise with staff in the development of test strategy, test cases, and test scripts for system performance, usability, and acceptance testing.
- Lead teams to draft implementation and rollout strategies and plans.
- Conduct walk-throughs of deliverables to identify potential problems.
- Prepare training material and documentation for end users and staff.
- Collaborate with clients on “Go/No Go” cut-over decisions for rollouts.
Requirements
- University degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable experience in OAS / OAC, OBIEE, Power BI, Tableau & ODI Administration, Performance monitoring/tuning, managing Oracle WebLogic, and troubleshooting Load Balancer / network issues in multi-tier High-availability architecture.
- Considerable experience in Oracle RDBMS PL/SQL applications and shell scripts.
- Considerable experience in developing/maintaining reports using Oracle Analytics Server or Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) suites in data warehouse environments.
- Considerable experience with Oracle database (OLTP and OLAP) and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) ETL tool in administration and development capacity.
- Considerable experience in BI Administration Tool (RPD) and OBIEE security setup including LDAP (e-Directory, AD) integration.
- Technical knowledge of Oracle BI, Oracle Analytics Server (OAS / OAC), ODI, and J2EE/WebLogic applications and security components.
- Ability to install, configure, and administer Oracle Fusion Middleware (OFM) i.e. OAS, OBIEE, ODI in an enterprise environment on UNIX/Linux server operating systems.
- Ability to work with Oracle 19c sustainment, implementation, and integration with single sign-on authentication mechanisms including MSAD, LDAP, e-Directory, Oracle Internet Directory.
- Ability to perform logical and physical application server designs, develop and implement procedures that support, maintain, and enhance the Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), OBIEE & ODI environment.
- Ability to develop and implement procedures for proactive problem detection and avoidance, including disaster recovery planning and implementation.
- Ability to work effectively with a group of multidisciplinary staff in a project team setting.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, listening and interacting skills are essential.
