About the Role

The OnTrackNY Program is seeking a Supported Education and Employment Specialist to assist adolescents and young adults experiencing the onset of non-affective psychosis. This role utilizes the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) evidence-based approach to help participants obtain competitive employment and educational opportunities within a multidisciplinary team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Engage participants and build collaborative relationships focused on education or competitive employment.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver SEE support within the IPS model.
  • Work with family members to educate them on supporting young people's work/school goals.
  • Assist families in navigating employment and educational systems and identifying resources.
  • Provide job development and job search services aligned with IPS principles.
  • Conduct a minimum of 4 employer contacts per week.
  • Support participants and their families with education goals in the community.
  • Provide individualized support for maintaining employment or education.
  • Arrange access to entitlements counseling for individuals and/or families.
  • Spend 50% or more of scheduled work hours in the community engaging in job development and support activities.
  • Link transitioning participants to services that support work and school goals post-discharge.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a mental health-related field, social services, or related field.
  • One year of experience providing employment or education services.
  • One year of experience working with adolescents and/or adults diagnosed with mental illness.
