About the Role

The Department of Health Services is seeking a Grants Coordinator for the Department of Environmental Quality to administer countywide grant programs, lead a team, communicate with the public, improve program efficiency, and develop new grant programs.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the administrator of countywide programs to issue grants for the Department of Environmental Quality.
  • Lead a team of administrative staff responsible for processing, issuing, contracting, and payment of grants.
  • Regular public communication regarding the status of the program.
  • Improve efficiency to maximize grant output by identifying staffing needs, process improvements, and dissolution of bottlenecks.
  • Develop and provide program metrics to effectively measure program performance.
  • Present data-driven proposals for program changes and improvements.
  • Implement new grant programs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a New York State or regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Three (3) years of experience in preparing, researching, and monitoring grants from state and federal sources.
  • Ability to take the next examination for the position to become permanent.
  • Must take the next examination for the position in question.

Skills

  • Distinct management skills with the ability to step into an established and productive culture.
  • Root cause identification of problems and ability to institute solutions.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with State and County Departments.
  • Public speaking and the production of content for presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage and maintain efficient processing of a growing program.
  • Strong communication skills to keep leadership informed of all aspects of the program.
