About the Role
This position is part of the Global Life Operations and Administration Team, reporting to the Global Head of Operations and Administration. The team is responsible for contract registration, booking and settling accounts, verifying and processing policy data, and auditing client operations. The role involves interfacing with other teams and stakeholders for financial and actuarial studies, and financial and management reporting.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a large, multi-level North America-based team to ensure accurate and timely execution of operational and administration tasks.
- Ensure day-to-day operational dependencies with other areas are addressed and operating smoothly.
- Represent North America in working with the Global Operations and Admin team on process optimization, risk evaluation, and control strengthening.
- Work with the Global Operations and Admin team and IT to enhance data governance capabilities and support data solutions and system enhancement projects.
- Represent North America Operations in a worldwide project to replace existing systems.
- Improve and enhance North America Ops processes and systems within the replacement project.
- Represent Operations’ interests in North America Life Business Unit meetings.
- Plan and execute audits of clients’ administration and operational practices.
- Own data supporting reserving, reporting, and experience analysis, and address stakeholder queries.
- Ensure Operations and Administration processes comply with internal policies, procedures, and controls.
- Produce regular reporting and provide feedback to Management on backlog, issues, and processing timeliness.
- Address all client-related administration issues quickly and effectively.
- Participate in the quarterly closing process with Finance and Actuarial teams.
- Ensure data received from clients is complete, accurate, consistent, and provided within deadlines.
- Conduct annual resource and operating expenses planning.
Requirements
- Minimum of ten years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in the re/insurance area.
- University degree in relevant and related areas.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written) is essential.
- Ability to propose constructive solutions and view issues in a bigger global context while understanding details.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Previous experience in managing large, cross-border and multi-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills: ability to communicate with clients, peers, management, and other internal teams, and to deliver potentially difficult messages.
- Ability to negotiate with management and other departments/stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a diverse worldwide organization with teams from multiple locations.
- Ability to counsel and develop team members, and engage in succession planning.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and demonstrate flexibility.
