About the Role
As a Crisis Support Staff Specialist, you will assist participants in crisis respite to learn and apply skills to manage their mental health, stabilize, and return to their pre-crisis level of functioning with connections to community resources and supports.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing clear treatment strategies based on specific needs of each consumer and composed as a formal treatment plan and percentage plan to the treatment team and consumer.
- Provide services including treatment and education in accordance with the treatment plan such as de-escalation, use of coping skills, and self-care skills.
- Document all aspects of the evaluation and treatment process to potentiate patient care, facilitate effective treatment coordination, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate treatment with other behavioral health services, other providers, probation, and parole, including facilitating referrals for inpatient treatment to maximize quality and effectiveness of care.
- Support collaboration and teamwork by sharing information and responding to questions/requests from the rehabilitation team and other support providers.
- Maintain client confidentiality and confidential health information.
- Promote service recipients' growth and development.
- Assist participants moving into and out of the respite.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, sanitary dwelling.
- Observe participants' self-medication administration in accordance with protocols.
- Participate in meetings as scheduled.
- Assist with training new staff members.
- Comply with BHSN policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Degree or significant experience in the human services field
- Experience providing direct support
- Ability to manage time effectively and organize tasks
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to collaborate across disciplines and programs
- Knowledge of substance abuse issues including features of alcohol and various drug abuse signs and symptoms, intervention strategies, and awareness of associated medical concerns
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation required for local and regional travel
