About the Role
Schnackel Engineers, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their team. This role involves coordinating with clients and design teams, creating electrical construction documents, performing calculations, and mentoring colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the client, MEP/FP/IT design teams, and other consultants to ensure design consistency, identify and resolve conflicts, maintain interdisciplinary coordination, and adhere to the design schedule.
- Participate in meetings and conference calls as needed.
- Create electrical construction document packages using AutoCAD/Revit and other software, including plans for electrical distribution, devices, equipment connections, luminaires, controls, fire alarm systems, circuitry, schedules, details, diagrams, and specifications.
- Perform load calculations, short-circuit calculations, and photometric calculations to support design decisions.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors and manufacturer’s representatives for equipment selection and specification.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to colleagues.
Requirements
- Possess an ABET-accredited degree in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on Electrical Engineering and a focus on power systems.
- Have 3-5 or more years of electrical design experience with an MEP/FP engineering consultant.
- Hold Engineer-Intern (EI) credentials in Electrical Engineering.
- Be able and willing to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) credentials in Electrical Engineering or possess a PE diploma.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication and organization skills, including task prioritization and multitasking.
- Exhibit advanced proficiency with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm & Signaling Code).
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with necessary direction and information.
- Experience designing lighting and lighting control systems, laying out and circuiting receptacles, designing connections to mechanical and other equipment, designing emergency power systems, developing panel schedules, designing one-line/riser diagrams, and designing fire alarm systems.
