Responsibilities
- Assemble orders, deliver, and serve food and beverages to guest rooms or functions.
- Set up various food and beverage functions according to event type and service standards.
- Ensure cleanliness, neatness, and correctness of service areas, replenishing supplies and resetting as needed.
- Set up and clean areas for house guests, groups, and special functions.
- Set up, break down, and carry tables and chairs safely.
- Perform cleaning duties and inspect equipment for damage or repair.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately via telephone or direct guest interaction.
- Record transactions in the Point of Sale system at the time of order.
- Serve food and beverage orders efficiently, timely, and professionally.
- Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and beverages.
- Answer guest questions with accurate information and maintain a friendly, helpful demeanor.
- Describe standard menu items and daily specials to guests.
- Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, wait times, recook orders, and product availability.
- Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
- Load and unload Room Service carts, prepare food and beverage items, and serve as needed.
- Deliver room service orders and provide table service in guest rooms.
- Pick up trays and clean tables to maintain cleanliness throughout the resort.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, and glassware.
- Present accurate checks to guests and process payments.
- Perform all service steps to provide excellent guest service.
- Interact positively with guests, providing information or directions.
- Take responsibility for Mohonk equipment and supplies, preventing loss and abuse.
- Maintain a polite and pleasant personality.
- Work without supervision and/or alone when necessary.
- Ensure proper set-up and replenishment of goods during tea service, coffee breaks, etc.
- Drive, park, and back up vehicles safely, ranging from utility carts to full-size vans.
- Safely handle sterno and hot items with care.
- Push a full food cart weighing up to 200 lbs. for approximately 50 yards without assistance.
- Handle dishes and glassware carefully.
- Negotiate stairs and uneven pathways while carrying full trays.
- Work under crowded, noisy conditions and navigate around guests with loaded trays.
- Conduct routine inventory of stock to ensure adequate supplies.
- Assist with training new room service staff on procedures.
- Inspect work of others for conformance to service standards.
- Speak, read, and write English, communicating clearly and congenially.
- Hear verbal instructions, directions, and warnings.
- Reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, flex arms, walk stairs/inclines, sit, climb ladders, or stand for up to 5 hours.
- Lift up to 35 pounds from ground to shoulder level and carry up to ¼ mile.
- Walk up to 15 miles per day.
- Maneuver carts or dollies safely with loads up to 200 pounds through various environments.
- Utilize close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Perform basic mathematical skills for transactions.
- Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House’s Dress and Grooming Standards.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule, including days, nights, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and peak periods.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License.
- At least 21 years of age, or 20 years of age with at least two years of licensed driving experience.
- Ability to inspect work of others by touch, sight, sound and smell for conformance to prescribed standards of service.
- Ability to speak, read and write the English language and communicate in a clear and congenial manner.
- Ability to hear verbal instructions, directions and warnings.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist and flex arms, walk up and down stairs/inclines, sit, climb up/down ladders or stand for up to 5 hours at a time.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds from ground level up to shoulder level and carry a distance of up to ¼ mile feet with/ without assistance.
- Ability to walk up to 15 miles per day.
- Ability to maneuver carts or dollies safely with loads up to 200 pounds up and down stairs, in/out elevators, through passageways or outdoors up to 100 feet.
- Ability to utilize close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and perform and record cash/credit transactions accurately.
- Ability to adhere to Mohonk Mountain House’s Dress and Grooming Standards; presenting a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance and maintaining a positive, professional image to our customers.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including days/nights, weekdays/weekends, holidays, and during peak periods of business.
