About the Role
This position is responsible for ensuring all food and catering-related functions, initiatives, and priorities support the customer’s overall business strategy. The role ensures the effective and efficient functioning of a café within client and corporate guidelines, driving continuous improvement, optimizing performance, and deploying standard processes. Success relies on anticipating and meeting client needs, solving deficiencies proactively, adapting to a fast-paced environment, and staying knowledgeable on industry trends.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage agendas, and lead weekly team meetings using provided online tools.
- Effectively communicate, motivate, and interact with all levels within the organization.
- Support and help manage client and customer relationships.
- Interview and hire unit staff employees in accordance with regulations.
- Participate and support corporate employee training and development programs.
- Maintain accurate and timely accounting and financial records, including forecasting, budgets, and payroll.
- Maintain sanitary and safe operations in accordance with health regulations, including NSF and HACCP guidelines.
- Execute effective communication channels with customers and client management for feedback and operational improvements.
- Achieve the highest standards in food, utilizing recipes and programs.
- Support the planning of procurement, inventory control, and supply chain activities.
- Train staff on building and maintaining client and customer relationships.
- Supervise, direct, and schedule the activities of unit food service personnel.
- Schedule employees and conduct employee meetings.
- Coach employees and conduct performance appraisals.
- Adhere to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures.
- Report any potential hazards or compliance concerns.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years Food Service Management experience; corporate dining is ideal.
- Experience managing a team of 20+ employees.
- Proven track record of leadership: building, managing, and leading a hospitality team.
- Positive attitude and dependable under pressure.
- Passion for hospitality, innovation, and creative experiences.
- Successful coaching and teaching skills.
- Creating a culture of food and workplace safety.
- Proven ability to maximize budget, enhance user experience, and creativity.
- Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Working knowledge of Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Client interaction experience in informal settings and formal meetings.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Manager ServSafe Certified or ability to be certified immediately after hire.
- Managing within a union environment is preferred.
- Extensive Food and Allergens experience is a must.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs.
- Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods.
- Expected to be on the floor during all service hours.
- Must possess a valid driver's license as this position may require travel to nearby sites.
- If travel is necessary, a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be required.
