About the Role
As a Product Manager at Loft, you will own a significant perimeter and the autonomy that goes with it. You will be responsible for understanding what is technically possible, what customers need, and what should be built first, translating this into actionable requirements for engineering and leadership. This role requires comfort in communicating with diverse teams, from engineers to executives, and a willingness to openly discuss ideas based on their merits.
Responsibilities
- Understand technical possibilities and translate them into requirements.
- Spend time with engineering to understand architectures, constraints, and dependencies.
- Translate strategic direction into clear requirements and use cases for engineering.
- Surface and shape ideas from engineering, connecting them to product rationale.
- Define and verify success criteria for capabilities.
- Maintain a shared view of Loft's product capabilities, development status, and gaps.
- Conduct customer discovery interviews and debrief missions to understand capability usage.
- Engage with partners building on the platform to understand their needs.
- Track market trends and competitive moves.
- Own the roadmap for your perimeter, balancing customer needs, engineering reality, and strategy.
- Build analysis for recommendations, including sizing, segmentation, business cases, and operational data.
- Negotiate scope and delivery commitments with engineering leadership.
- Challenge business development, engineering leadership, and own assumptions with data.
- Own internal communication regarding your perimeter.
- Develop technical narratives and proof points for marketing and BD.
- Prepare recommendations and presentations for executive-level audiences.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional experience, including hands-on product management.
- Domain experience in at least one of: earth observation, embedded systems, aerospace systems, security & defense.
- Comfort understanding both market and technology.
- Structured and data-driven approach to recommendations.
- Real product obsession, focusing on bigger picture and product-market fit.
- Relentless curiosity across diverse technical areas.
- High autonomy and a bias for action.
- Ability to be challenged and challenge others constructively.
- Working knowledge of hardware and software development lifecycles.
- Proficient using and configuring Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence).
- Fluency in English, written and spoken.
- Willingness to travel to other Loft offices and to customers.
