About the Role

This position is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of a mid-sized plant facility, including personnel management, training programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will manage plant business and budget issues, reporting to a Regional Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day operation and maintenance activities
• Serves as the primary liaison with the customer or host site regarding daily operations and production scheduling
• Ensures safe and environmentally responsible facility operation in compliance with DTE Energy core values and all regulations
• Develops the annual O&M budget and production forecasts
• Controls expenditures to remain within budget
• Schedules and coordinates major maintenance and contractor activity with customer production needs
• Prepares periodic status reports on operating performance, issues, and forecasts
• Implements a planned maintenance program (predictive, preventative, corrective) using work orders
• Conducts or arranges periodic training for plant personnel on technical, safety, environmental, and supervisory topics
• Ensures employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental policies
• Collaborates with operations leadership to share and implement best practices

Requirements

• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• A minimum of eight years of professional work experience relevant to the specific facility
• At least three years of supervisory experience in a professional leadership role

Skills

• Understanding of plant equipment operation and maintenance, focusing on availability, reliability, and efficiency
• Working knowledge of powerhouse equipment and systems (electrical distribution, chilled water, engines, gas compression, compressed air, heat exchangers, chemical treatment, transformers, motors, pumps, piping/valves, instrumentation, control systems)
• Understanding of energy efficiency practices and conservation techniques
• Knowledge of the facility's regulatory processes
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple activities
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Continuous improvement knowledge
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all staff levels, verbally and in writing
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel
• Familiarity with email, scheduling, and time reporting software
• Proven ability to complete tasks, assignments, and projects independently
• General understanding of income statements and the financial impact of operational and maintenance decisions
