About the Role
The Journeyperson Plumber operates facility systems, performs preventative and corrective maintenance, and provides routine services on mechanical and electrical equipment. This role ensures compliance with company policies, trade certifications, and internal/external requirements including environmental, health, safety, security, and fire protection.
Responsibilities
- Determines piping system requirements and pipe sizing.
- Measures, cuts, threads, and bends pipes to required shape and size.
- Interprets blueprints, drawings, and specifications to map layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
- Cuts openings in walls or floors to accommodate pipes and fittings.
- Installs, replaces, and repairs valves, pumps, piping systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- Tests pipes for leaks and other problems.
- Performs work in accordance with established processes and practices.
- Complies with all internal and external requirements including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
- Responds to routine and on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
- Performs regular facility and plumbing systems monitoring, inspection, preventative, and corrective maintenance.
- Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
- Assists in the implementation of the preventative maintenance (PM) program.
- Identifies, records, and escalates deficiencies.
- Maintains related documentation.
- Maintains accurate inventory of assigned tools and equipment.
- Arranges for repair and replacement of tools and equipment.
- Provides observations about facility and plumbing conditions and deficiencies.
- Provides recommendations for enhancement and repair.
- Participates in and assists with facility-related projects.
- Ensures work performed complies with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Submits all expenditures on a timely basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience required as a licensed Plumber.
- Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs.
- Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
- Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements.
- Possesses a valid driver's license.
