About the Role

Morton Salt is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to oversee Wet-End operations, including wellfield, brine treating, evaporators, drying, and boiler operation on a rotational schedule. This role contributes to producing and delivering salt that enhances everyday life.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in support of the safety journey and the Company’s goal of achieving an injury-free workplace.
  • Ensure EHS, MOC, GMP, environmental and QC compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in workplace safety by promptly addressing root causes of OIIs or near misses, conducting effective safety meetings, promoting SafeStart concepts, addressing safety concerns, and leading by example.
  • Utilize the management control and reporting system to set clear performance expectations and drive performance improvements.
  • Meet business targets in the area of responsibility.
  • Adhere to the MEWP process.
  • Ensure area PMs and compliance.
  • Ensure equipment is available for scheduled PM and maintenance work.
  • Submit clearly written work requests for repair work and ensure completion per the return to service policy.
  • Ensure operating procedures are followed and operators are properly trained.
  • Provide supervision, leadership, and coaching to employees.
  • Achieve efficient power & production operations as measured by OEE targets or other KPIs.
  • Ensure production schedule adherence.
  • Ensure compliance with all QC requirements (GMP, FSP) and drive continuous improvements in product quality.
  • Understand the recording of FSP observations on production records/logs and their relation to product quality, legality, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with FSSC22000 quality standards.
  • Achieve high standards for housekeeping and obtain full utilization of indirect labor personnel.
  • Minimize scrap, waste, or rework from power & production operations.
  • Accurately report production.
  • Ensure OPI’s are completed and resultant work orders are input for the area of responsibility.
  • Record accurate loss accounting data.
  • Communicate maintenance, production, quality, & EHS issues to other shifts through shift-handover meetings.
  • Ensure parts are withdrawn and accounted for properly from storerooms.
  • Provide vacation relief.

Requirements

  • Possesses knowledge of technical information on the unit/area.
  • Demonstrates background knowledge of operating procedure and process.
  • Understands maintenance procedures and processes.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of SAP.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of scheduling and overtime procedures.
  • Understands, in detail, the plant maintenance planning and scheduling process.
  • Demonstrates respect, inclusion, cooperation and responsibility.
  • Capable of working in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating in a production environment.
  • Supervisory experience.
