About the Role

Barrick is seeking an Exploration District Geologist to lead a team in identifying, assessing, and exploring new targets within an assigned district. This role involves executing exploration programs in compliance with safety, environmental, community relations, and governance standards, ensuring a healthy exploration portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, coach, and mentor geologists, promoting a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
  • Identify and advance new exploration targets aligned with district and company strategy.
  • Design, propose, and execute exploration programs across all stages of the exploration pipeline.
  • Develop and apply strong geological and exploration models to guide target generation and drill planning.
  • Lead and oversee field exploration activities, ensuring high-quality geological data collection and management.
  • Manage exploration programs to meet technical objectives, schedules, and approved budgets.
  • Apply economic and business criteria to evaluate and prioritize exploration opportunities.
  • Prepare clear, high-quality technical reports and ensure delivery of geological data to company standards.
  • Provide technical leadership to define areas of interest and drilling targets.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external contractors to ensure timely project execution.
  • Participate in annual exploration budget planning and manage project financial performance.
  • Communicate project objectives, progress, and impacts to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure all required permits and approvals are obtained and maintained.
  • Promote and enforce health, safety, environmental, and risk-prevention standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, Code of Conduct, and community relations standards.
  • Partner with Human Resources on talent management, including recruitment, performance management, and development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mineral exploration, including field-based project leadership preferred.
  • Proven experience designing and executing exploration programs from early stage through advanced exploration required.
  • Strong geological modeling, target generation, and drill planning skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage exploration budgets and control costs required.
  • Master’s degree in Geology or a related discipline preferred.
  • Experience working at district or regional scale exploration programs preferred.
  • Familiarity with modern exploration technologies, data systems, and geoinformatics standards preferred.
  • Prior experience in a mining company or large-scale exploration organization preferred.
  • Experience leading, training, and mentoring geologists and technical teams preferred.
  • Strong technical reporting, data management, and communication skills required.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in exploration required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and internal stakeholders required.
