About the Role
Discord is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join the Experimentation Platform team. This role is crucial for ensuring the statistical integrity of product experiments, enabling rapid and accurate decision-making, and influencing company strategy for over 90 million daily active users.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to enhance the reliability and scalability of experimentation.
- Provide statistical expertise to ensure sound methodologies and alignment with best practices in causal inference and experimental design.
- Lead initiatives to educate and train cross-functional teams on experimentation design, statistical methodologies, and causal inference.
- Develop and deliver workshops, training sessions, and educational materials on statistical concepts and data-driven decision-making.
- Empower the Data Science team to utilize more rigorous causal inference methods.
- Lead and conduct causal inference research on key Discord priorities.
- Translate and champion best scientific practices across various company functions.
- Use causal inference methods that translate into business decisions and outcomes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in designing and validating statistical methodologies for experimentation platforms or similar systems.
- MSc in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, etc.) and 2+ years of experience designing, implementing, and analyzing experiments or causal inference projects.
- Ability to critically evaluate and recommend statistical approaches and methodologies.
- Strong passion for education and ability to communicate complex statistical and experimental design concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs or educational content related to experimentation, causal inference, or statistical analysis.
- Proficiency with Python, SQL, and R.
