About the Role
Perform routine maintenance and repair of buildings and related work across all Garden properties, including the perimeter fence. Responsibilities include painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, shop work, and automotive repairs.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill assigned work orders.
- Take direction from management and effectively communicate with managers, team members, and garden staff.
- Execute new projects from inception to completion related to the construction or fabrication of new structures or items.
- Maintain all maintenance shops and storage rooms in an orderly fashion and comply with Garden safety regulations.
- Monitor the work of Assistant Maintainers and ensure all assigned projects are completed safely and satisfactorily.
- Maintain records, inventory, and prepare reports on work completed and materials used.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and vehicles and maintain supply inventory.
- Demonstrate proficiency in working on ladders, lifts, and other work platforms.
- Perform office moves and assemble/move/deliver furniture and supplies.
- Set up tables, chairs, tents, stages and equipment for Garden-related events.
- Perform snow removal by using all types of snow clearing equipment, including but not limited to snow blowers and shovels.
- Participate in all training provided by the Garden.
- Perform other job–related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in general maintenance work, preferably in plumbing, masonry, carpentry, and electrical.
- Must pass a written and practical exam.
- Must be able to work weekends.
- Driver’s license required.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification required or the ability to obtain certification within six months of hire date.
- Ability to move up to 50 pounds and lift overhead.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
