About the Role
The Senior Data Engineer is part of the Enterprise Data Enablement Team at Canada Life, responsible for engineering, creating, and supporting data services and products that increase the velocity and quality of data to drive business insights and analytics across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Build and support data products for Canadian use by designing, curating, and publishing self-service connected datasets.
- Design and develop data models and patterns for re-usability in collaboration with Data Governance and Information Architecture teams.
- Optimize data engineering and preparation activities through automation and modern tools.
- Collaborate with the core data team and business stakeholders while mentoring other engineers.
- Assist business teams in understanding data needs and provide recommendations on solution options.
- Inventory critical data elements including lineage, classification, and usage.
- Maintain strong collaboration with various internal organizational groups.
Requirements
- Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Data Analytics.
- 5+ years of applied data engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of data modeling and cloud platform techniques.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to obtain Reliability Status Security Clearance.
- Agile, practical, and customer service-oriented mindset.
