About the Role
As an on-call relief Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, you will deliver mail to various communities while working independently. This role offers the opportunity to work with a growth-oriented organization and potentially transition into permanent positions.
Responsibilities
- Sort, collect, and deliver mail items safely and in a timely manner
- Maintain knowledge of local infrastructure, including roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
- Ensure mail is safely secured
- Process various Canada Post products and services including Change of Address, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bill
- Wear and display Canada Post identification while on duty
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lb/22.7 kg
- Operate a motor vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions
Requirements
- Satisfactory safe driving record with a provided driver's abstract
- Valid permanent provincial driver’s license (Class 5 or G)
- Provide and maintain required automobile liability insurance
- Notify insurance company regarding the use of the vehicle for employment
- Vehicle with minimum cargo capacity of 50 cu ft
- Vehicle with automatic transmission
- Vehicle with power windows
- Vehicle with metal roof-top and accessory power outlet for signage and lighting
- Vehicle with specific passenger window sill height and interior width dimensions
- Applicants residing within 75 km from the Post Office are preferred
