About the Role
The Test Automation, Senior Specialist leads advanced automation testing for Interac’s products and services, with a strong focus on online and integration-heavy solutions. This role designs and evolves integration automation frameworks and best practices to maximize test coverage while minimizing execution time and maintenance effort. The Senior Specialist enhances automation strategies to support microservices-based architectures, end-to-end user flows, and database integrations, and develops non-functional automation tests to validate service interactions, timeouts, and retries. Through definition of automation metrics and continuous evaluation of scripts, the role drives efficiency, quality, and scalability of automation across releases.
Responsibilities
- Perform automation testing functions and support for Interac Corp. products and services, focusing on the Money Movement product.
- Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of product builds and testing requirements.
- Design and document the Integration Automation Framework and best practices to maximize test coverage, minimize test cycle time, and reduce automation maintenance efforts/costs.
- Evaluate all scripts and recommend changes as per requirements.
- Enhance the automation test strategy to incorporate microservices automation, including integration and end-to-end user process flows with service dependencies and DB integration.
- Define automation metrics and the process for collecting and validating them, monitoring the efficiency of the Integration team's automation activities.
- Develop NFR automation tests for interactions between services and components, including timeouts and retries, as needed per release.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of direct experience in software development with strong, hands-on experience in software automation testing, test case development, test execution, test results analysis, and test optimization.
- Experience in the creation, maintenance, and optimization of automation frameworks, including management of test reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in NUnit or JUnit.
- Experience working within a formal CI/CD pipeline.
- Strong knowledge of C# and JavaScript.
- Knowledge of Selenium WebDriver.
- API testing using POST man or similar.
- Knowledge of web applications architecture, APIs, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with load testing using JMeter or similar.
- Knowledge and experience with Git/Stash.
- Knowledge and experience with Jenkins and Bamboo.
- Knowledge and experience of micro-services architecture regarding integration and functional automation tests.
- Agile team and methodology experience; Kanban experience is desirable.
- Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete background checks, which may include Canadian Criminal Credit Check, Canadian ID Cross-Check, Public Safety Verification, 5-year Employment Verification, Education Verification, Credit Check, and Social Media Check.
