About the Role
As a Data Engineer, you will own the entire data domain within the Energy Metering business unit. You will be the driving force behind building and optimizing our data infrastructure, with a strong focus on highly efficient metering data management. You will operate within a strong network, managing your tasks independently while proactively seeking support from the global Octopus Energy Data Team for complex challenges.
Responsibilities
- Take technical and strategic responsibility for the Data area of Energy Metering.
- Collaborate closely with the Octopus Energy Data Team to achieve local data goals.
- Retrieve metering data from gateway administration, validate it, and ensure reliable and performant API access for other systems.
- Extract customer project data from HubSpot and manage its storage, modeling, and processing in Databricks.
- Develop, automate, and optimize robust data pipelines (e.g., using Apache Airflow or dbt).
- Ensure data quality and availability in the Data Lake / Data Warehouse.
- Support Business Operations Managers by visualizing and making decision-relevant data accessible in dashboards.
Requirements
- Absolute hands-on mentality and strong execution skills.
- Proactive ownership and driving of initiatives.
- Strong team orientation and effective interface management.
- Optimal utilization of synergies with expert groups.
- Proficient in Python and SQL.
- Practical experience in API design, development, and integration.
- Proficient with Databricks (Spark/Data Lakes).
- Solid experience with HubSpot (or comparable CRM systems).
- In-depth experience in data validation, ETL/ELT processes, and building scalable data pipelines.
- Very good German and English language skills (written and spoken).
