About the Role
The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is seeking a talented individual to write and produce news and feature content for broadcasts, web, and social media. This role involves managing program timing, conducting interviews, adapting content between languages, and contributing to production elements. The position offers the opportunity to work with a global media agency dedicated to informing, engaging, and connecting people worldwide in support of freedom and democracy.
Responsibilities
- Writes and produces news and feature content and programming for broadcasts, web, and social media.
- Serves as line producer, managing the timing and order of stories in broadcasts.
- Conducts and writes up interviews for assigned stories.
- Adapts and/or translates content between English and a native language.
- Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special programs and web/social media sections.
- Voices material for broadcasts, including material prepared by others.
- Contributes to production elements, including fine editing of taped material and graphics.
- Edits and approves copy and content prepared by others.
- Performs technical functions, including operation of equipment.
- Contributes to teamwork and facilitates teammates' tasks.
- Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and deadlines.
- Serves as videographer/reporter, as assigned.
- Serves as anchor/program host, as assigned.
- Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements.
- Works independently or as a member of a team.
- Logs and conducts data entry for the digital asset management system.
Requirements
- Fluency in target language (written, spoken).
- Deep knowledge of the target area.
- Ability to adapt stories into English within the assigned time.
- Must pass a thorough background check.
