About the Role
As a Fibre Systems Technician, you will be at the heart of the technology that powers Formula 1. Working as part of the Circuit Networks team, you will help deploy, operate and maintain the fibre optic infrastructure that enables the delivery of live broadcast, timing, telemetry and communications systems at events across the globe. Combining technical expertise with a hands-on approach, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of the systems that connect every aspect of a Formula 1 race weekend.
Responsibilities
- Optically test, inspect, and commission the fibre optic network at F1 events using optical test equipment and end-face cleaning procedures.
- Work within project teams to build systems to the highest standards, providing reliable and resilient technical solutions.
- Support, configure, and monitor the system for broadcast, IT, and communications networks as the fibre optic service provider.
- Ensure the upkeep of equipment lists/manifests and liaise with the freight department.
- Order new consumables and technical products when requested.
- Provide firsthand technical support and fault finding for trackside systems including track cameras, FIA marshalling, telemetry, data acquisition, and timing, as well as paddock systems and F1 team integration.
- Undertake race event preparatory work and liaise with F1 departments to ensure Circuit Networks race planning is completed in adequate time.
- Support, test, service, and terminate singlemode fibre using a variety of connectors.
- Perform general wiring practices and termination of data/power cables when required.
- Maintain an interest in new technologies and developments related to Track Systems, contributing to system design and project team involvement.

- Confident using fibre test kit such as OTDR, Power meter, optical channel checker.
- Experience with 2D AutoCAD software.
- Experience installing, building, configuring, and troubleshooting technical systems.
- Experience in writing technical reports or technical proposals.
- Experience working in a project environment or being actively involved in delivering technical projects.
- Knowledge of JIRA, project tracking software.
- Ability to think on your feet and be an efficient problem-solver.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- MS Windows literate, particularly in Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain a clean and presentable work environment.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Good communication skills; able to explain information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Capable of performing rig and de-rig duties as required for a team member.
