About the Role
The Senior Producer joins the Scheduling & Content Planning team for a one-year contract to focus on content distribution and building relationships with external partners to generate international interest and revenue from CBC Radio programs.
Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with CBC Radio clients in the US and global public radio partners.
- Proactively seek licensing opportunities through cold-calling, emailing, newsletters, and networking.
- Negotiate financial terms of licensing agreements based on station size, budget, and market conditions.
- Engage with external clients as an editorial peer to build relationships based on shared journalistic values.
- Consult with the Business & Rights department to ensure rights and royalties are acknowledged.
- Coordinate the execution of licensing agreements between the Licensor, Senior Director, and Finance.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate the delivery of content to clients.
- Train program teams on self-delivery of content.
- Coach program teams on FCC rules and U.S. community standards regarding mature or offensive content.
- Collaborate with the Technology & Infrastructure team to resolve delivery issues.
- Work with Finance to secure payment for licensing agreements.
- Stay informed on industry trends.
Requirements
- Five years of relevant experience in a related field, preferably in a broadcast environment.
- Strong knowledge of CBC Radio/Audio programming.
- Proven experience as a journalist with demonstrated critical thinking and leadership qualities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work beyond normal office hours as projects dictate.
- Ability to take initiative and work autonomously.
- Must adhere to the corporate Code of Conduct and conflict of interest policies.
- Subject to a mandatory criminal record check and potential additional background checks.
