About the Role

Under supervision, the Maintenance Technician will perform preventive maintenance, inspection, and repair of equipment and machinery. This role requires continuous learning of new skills for maintaining and repairing equipment in a dynamic field. The technician must apply pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical principles to all equipment, read blueprints and schematics, and function safely in a fast-paced, demanding environment at heights up to 60 feet and in temperatures ranging from 95 to -20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, replace, disassemble, repair, perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance, unplanned repairs, and overhaul all equipment associated with 4 Greers, including in-feed conveyors, racks and trays, ram assemblies, micro switches, and various conveyors.
  • Assist Process Controls with any modifications or upgrades for Greers.
  • Responsible for out-feed conveyors leading into the line room palletizing area for Greers.
  • Troubleshoot, replace, disassemble, repair, perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance, unplanned repairs, and overhaul all equipment associated with K and L cranes, including cable replacement, shoe replacement, table rebuilds, wheel replacements, and rail inspections.
  • Troubleshoot, replace, disassemble, repair, perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance, unplanned repairs, and overhaul all equipment associated with various fillers (Bulk 7, Cone 9, Hoyer, etc.), diagnosing mechanical and electrical malfunctions of motors and control circuits up to PLCs.
  • Time various machine functions and assist with operational adjustments and changeovers for fillers.
  • Support ancillary equipment including stuffing pumps, agitators, and fruit feeders.
  • Troubleshoot, replace, disassemble, repair, perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance, unplanned repairs, and overhaul all equipment associated with various product wrappers and cartoners (Bulk 7, Cone 9, Hoyer, Gram, Scrounds, NDS, PMI, and palletizing wrappers).
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions of motors and control circuits up to PLCs for wrappers and cartoners.
  • Time various machine functions and assist with operational adjustments and changeovers for wrappers and cartoners.
  • Support ancillary equipment including tape machines, Ink jet coders, metal detectors, and various conveyance systems.
  • Troubleshoot, replace, disassemble, repair, perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance, unplanned repairs, and overhaul all equipment associated with HTST-1, 2, & 3 and associated homogenizers in mix room operations.
  • Troubleshoot, replace, disassemble, repair, perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance, unplanned repairs, and overhaul all equipment associated with CIP1-6, diagnosing mechanical and electrical malfunctions of motors and control circuits up to PLCs.
  • Coordinate with other department personnel to improve procedures and resolve problems.
  • Assist scheduler with maintenance plans to meet operational commitments.
  • Review maintenance data collection summaries to determine trends and production effectiveness.
  • Actively participate in learning continuous improvement basics and recommend improvements.
  • With assistance, responsible for replacement and set-up of Frequency Drives on all conveyors, pumps, and motor-driven equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Frequency Drives, DC drives, single and 3-phase motors.
  • Perform Daily Cycle Counts as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, as dictated by business necessity.

Requirements

  • Must possess the ability to constantly learn new skills for maintaining and repairing equipment.
  • Must possess the ability to apply pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical principles to all equipment.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Must be able to work and function safely at heights in excess of 60 feet.
  • Must be able to work and function safely in temperatures ranging from 95 degrees to -20 degrees Fahrenheit.
