About the Role
The Laboratory Technician position performs assigned laboratory procedures, including data entry, processing, and resulting of biological indicator spore strip tests.
Responsibilities
- Perform aseptic transfer of tests and categorize incoming customer tests.
- Perform Gram stain technique to verify positive test results.
- Maintain accurate customer records.
- Sort envelopes into single and double strips packs.
- Label envelopes and perform data entry.
- Transfer spore strips.
- Pull and record positive samples.
- Prepare lab supplies for daily tasks.
- Adhere to laboratory quality control policies.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Open mail.
- Clean laboratory and office areas.
- Perform mail pick-up and counting.
- Restock supplies.
- Prepare Gram stains and view positives.
- Archive transferred envelopes.
Requirements
- Basic computer competency is required.
- Attention to detail, manual dexterity, well-focused, sense of urgency, good work ethic, and ability to function as part of a team are required.
- Some knowledge of aseptic laboratory techniques is preferred.
- Microscope familiarity is preferred.
