About the Role

Transport materials from the lumber yard to job sites in a safe and timely manner. Loads and unloads materials manually or mechanically by following company delivery guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle in compliance with all DOT regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections per DOT guidelines.
• Strap truck in a safe manner and within DOT guidelines.
• Maintain truck log per state and federal regulations.
• Verify load against shipping paperwork.
• Actively load and unload truck manually or with equipment including Moffett or Flatbed Dump.
• Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor for delivery instructions.
• Perform regular and emergency roadside repairs.
• Communicate problems, concerns, and ideas to management.
• Identify process improvements.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly commercial vehicle.
• Participate in all assigned training programs and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Develop and maintain excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Perform Material Handling Duties as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must possess a clean CDL Class A New York State Driver’s License.
• Must be able to present a current DOT Medical Certificate.
• Must be able to pass a required Drug and Alcohol Screen.
• Knowledge of Rochester and Surrounding Areas Roads and Highways.
• Employees must be reliable, punctual, and safety-minded, with a strong work ethic.
• Employees must display a positive, helpful demeanor, and a commitment to providing the best in customer service.
• Basic math and reading skills required.
• Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
• Physically demanding job requiring ability to sit and stand for the duration of the shift.
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
