About the Role
As Engagement Director, you will operate at the pinnacle of Capgemini’s Public Business Unit, shaping the future of public sector transformation. You’ll lead major client engagements, steering strategic business growth and orchestrating complex, high-impact programmes that touch millions of lives across the UK. This role offers the opportunity to influence national services by partnering directly with senior Public Sector stakeholders as a strategic advisor.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, building trusted advisor relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
- Drive company-wide impact by leading multiple teams and strategic initiatives, aligning strategies with organizational priorities and client value creation.
- Lead the delivery of complex transformation programmes, ensuring they meet client objectives, are delivered on time and within budget, and align with Capgemini’s quality standards.
- Oversee engagement governance, proactively manage risks and issues, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual obligations.
- Shape and refine Capgemini’s public sector propositions, integrating digital, data, and emerging technology capabilities.
- Drive business development activities, including identifying new opportunities, leading proposals and bids, and growing consulting revenues.
- Navigate complex stakeholder environments, both internally and externally, to ensure successful engagement outcomes.
- Lead large, complex, cross-functional teams or major business functions, typically managing senior leaders and directors.
- Contribute to practice development through thought leadership, internal campaigns, recruitment, and participation in key business initiatives.
- Support global flying squads on new business opportunities and engagement recoveries, subject to experience.
Requirements
- Track record in leading complex, high-value engagements (circa £15M annualised revenue).
- Sharp commercial instincts and proactive risk management.
- Significant experience in programme, service and/or transition management.
- Deep expertise in public sector operating models, regulatory landscapes, and unique organizational demands.
- Ability to unlock new opportunities, build lasting partnerships, and generate revenue.
- Inspire high-performing teams, manage large-scale programs, and nurture talent.
- Fluent in agile and waterfall delivery as well as the latest technologies.
- Strong communication and influencing skills at C-suite and senior civil service levels.
- Lead with integrity, championing Capgemini’s values of inclusion, social responsibility, and ethical business.
- Experience leading public sector engagements, ideally in large government departments.
- Strong understanding of government procurement processes and frameworks.
- Eligible for UK Security Clearance.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. project/programme management, agile, Agile@Scale, SAFE, cloud, security, data).
- Must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years to obtain SC clearance.
- May be asked about citizenship due to security restrictions.
