About the Role
The Central Sanctions Unit (CSU) team in New York is responsible for screening Lloyds Bank, North America’s customer base and payment transactions, and investigating alerts related to sanctioned countries, entities, individuals, and PEPs. This role also involves adverse media screening, processing FinCEN 314(a), reviewing sanctions list updates, producing management information, and participating in related systems development projects.
Responsibilities
- Review and sign-off of sanctions/PEP case alerts from customer screening and payment/SWIFT message screening.
- Provide backfill support for other team members during absences and scheduled time off.
- Daily screening reconciliation review and sign-off.
- Manage Negative News alerts and administration, including review and sign-off of investigations.
- Manage 314(a) processing and review and sign-off of alerts.
- Conduct manual screening of non-automated transactions (e.g., L/Cs, check deposits).
- Manage and support team members to ensure case investigations meet acceptable standards accurately and timely.
- Conduct business assurance testing of Sanctions / PEP list updates for production systems.
- Lead and support project / system testing work, which may require weekend work.
- Manage interactions with Letter of Credit, Loan Operations, Payments Office, and Compliance teams.
- Create monthly and ad-hoc management information (MI).
- Understand and remain current with applicable Group policies and standards, ensuring team members are trained.
- Complete all mandatory trainings, readings, and workshops.
- Act as a subject matter expert for all sanctions-related activities.
- Lead and support a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Familiarity with Fircosoft screening and case management tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of the OFAC SDN list and its purpose (knowledge of HMT sanctions is a plus).
- 3+ years of experience in performing Sanctions / PEP investigations with the ability to produce regulatory-ready rationales with supporting evidence.
- General knowledge of US PATRIOT Act, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti Money Laundering legislation, and OFAC regulations.
- Experience in performing Adverse Media investigations and case decisions.
- Knowledge of KYC / CIP.
- Understanding of SWIFT message types and formatting.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including MS Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Agile thinker, capable of learning new technologies and implementing new processes.
- Passionate about colleague development and learning.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a small team in a multi-task environment.
- Self-starter with attention to detail and ability to adhere to policies/procedures.
