About the Role

In the Outpatient Department for Adults at Zentrum ÜBERLEBEN, we treat refugees and survivors of torture and war violence suffering from severe psychological and physical consequences. Our goal is to develop paths to stabilization, rehabilitation, and social participation together with the patients. In an interdisciplinary team of doctors, psychotherapists, and social workers, we offer individual, culturally sensitive support – from diagnostics and therapy to social counseling. Communication in the native language is facilitated by professional language and cultural mediators.

Responsibilities

Participation in initial consultations (clearing interviews)
Observation of psychotherapeutic treatment (as well as psychiatric treatment and social work counseling)
Implementation of psychotherapeutic interventions under guidance and supervision
Psychological testing
Participation in our telephone consultation hour

Requirements

Successfully completed psychology studies
Commenced training as a psychological psychotherapist (VT, TP, ST, AP) at a state-recognized training institute
Experience in working with traumatized individuals is desirable
Interest in intercultural working methods, including the use of language and cultural mediation

At Zentrum ÜBERLEBEN (formerly Treatment Center for Victims of Torture e.V.), we advocate nationally and internationally for survivors of torture and war violence.
Our clients and patients receive medical, psychotherapeutic, social work, and integrative support.
To overcome language barriers in intercultural counseling and treatment settings, we work with specially trained interpreters.
In addition to the rehabilitation of traumatized refugees, the focus of our work is also on the integration and vocational qualification, up to social participation, of people with diverse flight and migration experiences.
