About the Role
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will make a significant contribution to the lives of people across Westminster. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the service alongside senior colleagues, prioritizing the independence, dignity, choice, self-esteem, and wellbeing of service users. You will act as a source of expert advice and guidance, manage a team of OT Associates, and ensure their support and care plans meet assessed needs. Additionally, you will oversee their performance, support their professional growth, represent the OT service at meetings, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement. You will also ensure effective and efficient handling of emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the service alongside senior colleagues.
- Prioritize the independence, dignity, choice, self-esteem, and wellbeing of service users.
- Act as a source of expert advice and guidance.
- Manage a team of OT Associates, ensuring their support and care plans meet assessed support needs.
- Oversee the performance of OT Associates, supporting their growth and development.
- Represent the OT service at internal and external meetings.
- Collaborate with a wide range of colleagues, partners, and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure emergency situations are dealt with effectively and efficiently.
Requirements
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with at least 5-7 years of post-qualifying experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a local authority setting.
- Great working knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Experience supervising staff in a previous role.
- Capable of effectively managing group dynamics.
- Skilled in promoting partnership working.
- Ability to collaborate across a multi-disciplinary team.
- Advanced skills in the assessment, treatment, and care management of people with complex multi-pathologies.
- Ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent people management skills.
- Enhanced DBS Check required.
