About the Role

Relay is seeking an Engineering Manager, Accounts to shape the next stage of scale for our digital banking platform. This role offers high-impact, strategic decision-making with direct influence over a product used by thousands of small businesses. You will enhance our core multi-account structure, making it smart and adaptive to business operations, ultimately replacing manual financial processes with an intuitive, living system.

Responsibilities

Lead the planning and delivery of engineering initiatives, ensuring projects meet quality standards, timelines, and business goals.
Drive clarity in priorities and execution across the team.
Establish and maintain effective engineering processes, including sprint planning, code reviews, and technical design reviews.
Continuously refine team rituals to enable high-quality, predictable delivery.
Partner with senior leadership to shape and execute the technical vision, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer needs.
Work closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with user needs and business objectives.
Enable teams to solve complex problems and deliver impactful solutions.
Build and grow a high-performing engineering team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
Foster a collaborative, feedback-driven environment that supports continuous learning and professional development.
Encourage mentorship and knowledge sharing while creating opportunities for team development.

Requirements

5+ years of full-stack software development experience, ideally within a high-growth B2B SaaS or fintech environment.
1-3 years in a people management role.
Strong technical foundation and a proven track record of shipping high-quality products.
Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React, and AWS is a plus.
Passionate about building and scaling engineering teams, and deeply invested in growing and developing people.
Communicate clearly and effectively, bringing calm and clarity in times of ambiguity and change.
Pragmatic decision-maker with a customer-centric mindset, able to navigate tradeoffs.
Think creatively and resourcefully, embracing experimentation and AI to solve complex problems.
Thrive in cross-functional environments, bringing teams together, connecting the dots, and driving initiatives.
