About the Role
project44 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Visibility Platform team in Amsterdam. This role will focus on shaping the shared engineering foundation that powers all of project44's visibility products, processing billions of carrier signals into real-time tracking, milestones, and notifications.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve core platforms for event ingestion, milestone computation, webhook and notification delivery, scheduled work, and shared APIs.
- Design event-driven systems for high-throughput carrier data processing with reliability and low latency.
- Own the reliability, performance, and scalability of team-operated platforms.
- Build systems in a multi-cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Partner with modal engineering teams to expose platform capabilities.
- Share ownership of software delivery, including development, operations, and testing.
- Assume on-call responsibilities for systems built and owned by the team.
- Invest in tools, monitoring, and automation to improve the on-call experience.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience building large-scale, real-time or near real-time cloud systems.
- Strong programming and debugging skills with proficiency in Java Backend.
- Demonstrated experience with systems operating at high scale (high event throughput, tight latency SLAs, high availability).
- Experience designing and operating event-driven and stream-processing systems on Kafka or Kinesis.
- Experience creating and working with scalable Java-based micro-services.
- Experience working with databases, preferably Postgres or other SQL-based DBs.
- Experience building systems in a multi-cloud environment (AWS & GCP, experience with Azure is valued).
