About the Role
Receive and pay out money and keep records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions. Work is subject to review and/or audit on a no-notice basis by management, Supervisory Committee, auditors and/or Federal Examiners.
Responsibilities
- Perform teller duties, including receiving checks and cash for deposit, verifying amounts, examining checks for endorsements, accepting loan payments, credit card payments, and processing cash advances.
- Present a helpful, cheerful, and professional image when interacting with members in person or on the telephone.
- Provide members with information about available Credit Union products and services, such as money orders, teller checks, ATM, and VISA cards, and attempt to cross-sell them.
- Provide members with account balances and loan payoff figures.
- Process incoming mail and telephone transfers, answer the telephone, assist members, or transfer calls to the appropriate departments.
- Balance the cash drawer daily and maintain the Teller Balance Record in accordance with Teller Procedure 3.17 “Teller Cash Over/Short.”
- Collect funds on returned checks.
- Understand the Bank Secrecy Act and know when and how to complete a currency transaction report.
- Perform all duties in compliance with the established Credit Union Quality Standards.
- Maintain current knowledge of all services and products provided by the Credit Union and cross-sell these services and products whenever possible.
- Display a pleasant, professional style on the job and follow guidelines established in the company’s Policy Manual, including Code of Ethics, dress code, and attendance areas.
- Complete all training designed to enhance capabilities, including in-house training and outside seminars/workshops.
- Acquire and maintain the necessary working knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations and Credit Union Bylaws and Policies to ensure compliance.
- Travel to other branches when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist in balancing the money order account monthly.
- Train new tellers.
- Complete loan verification reports.
- Image checks daily.
- Prove ATMs daily and assist in their replenishment.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills.
- Must have high school education with strong Math and English skills.
- Some accounting knowledge.
- Friendly, personable demeanor.
