About the Role

Join Bauer Media Audio's Broadcast Engineering team at The Lantern in London, supporting prominent UK radio brands. This role is at the intersection of broadcasting, technology, and content creation, offering opportunities to work on critical systems and shape the future of broadcast technology. You will be key in keeping stations on air, resolving issues, and providing technical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve studio and broadcast faults quickly to minimize disruption to live services.
  • Support and maintain studio audio systems, including microphones, mixing consoles, routing, monitoring, processing, and talkback systems.
  • Maintain and support digital playout, automation, scheduling, and logging platforms.
  • Support Audio-over-IP broadcast infrastructure.
  • Assist with studio video systems, including video-over-IP, streaming, and content capture technologies.
  • Work closely with presenters, producers, journalists, and content teams to provide responsive technical support.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, testing, and system health checks.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures.
  • Support resilience, continuity, and disaster recovery initiatives across broadcast systems.
  • Support Outside Broadcasts, live events, festivals, and special projects.
  • Work collaboratively with infrastructure teams, broadcast specialists, and technology teams across the UK and Ireland.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to resolve platform and software issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rota supporting critical broadcast operations.

Requirements

  • Experience in broadcast engineering, media technology, audio engineering, or a similar technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of audio signal flow and broadcast workflows.
  • Experience supporting Audio-over-IP technologies such as Livewire, Dante, AES67, or Axia.
  • Experience working with radio playout and automation systems.
  • Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP and IP-based workflows.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to support both software and hardware environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • A customer-focused approach and willingness to support a wide variety of stakeholders.
